Viva Palestina US convoy gets aid to Gaza - what’s next

After the spontaneous demonstrations and the university occupations that broke out in the the first quarter of this year, there has been a lot of hard work to send help to the people in Gaza.

The Viva Palestina US convoy which entered Gaza on 15th July managed to get through a quarter of a million dollars worth of medical aid and supplies. The largest convoy ever to leave the US for Palestine. The group was only allowed to stay in Gaza for 24 hours and 47 new vehicles dedicated for medical use were prevented from crossing from Egypt to Gaza. They remain in the customs free zone in the port of Alexandria.

There is a planned Viva Palestina Venezuela convoy which will take place later this year.

It is hoped that a second joint US/UK convoy can go in December. It will head through Europe, into the Balkans, northern Greece, Turkey, Syria, Jordan and into Egypt
