Targeted for unionisation at SOAS

Students at SOAS occupied yesterday in support of cleaners who work at the University. They occupied the director’s office to protest about cleaners who work at the university who face deportation. According to the London Student “the company ISS Cleaning and Hygiene Services, SOAS’s cleaning contractor has been accused of using immigration law to keep wages low after strikes by its employees working on tube trains were also followed by deportation of key activists”.
The Socialist Worker note that “Soas cleaners have recently been involved in a number of disputes. They had successfully campaigned for union recognition and the London Living Wage”. They quote Ken Loach who has publicly asked “if the Soas cleaners are being targeted because they dared to organise as trade unionists”.

Students at Bradford send their solidarity to SOAS students and workers.
